we love real beeeeeeeer

and Oktoberfest begins. being well aquinted with people of german origin, it is only but my duty to embrace this season of festivities.

this weekend there are numerous festivals happening. last night i went and visited the Biscuit Mills "we love real beer". it was wonderful, as well as a learning experience.
we paid R50 entrance and received a lovely glass beer mug - and then the festivities began.
tasting fruity fruity ciders, to fruity beer (cherry beer - it was the greatest) and then a lager to end the evening off. . . .
evening is an iniciative dedicated to promoting a community of Real Beer lovers. (and no, not your student "beer lover" either), but rather providing baturally brewed beer, made by small, independent brewers.

check out their website : http://www.weloverealbeer.com/home.html , as well as a few pictures from the evening.

apple and pear cider - delish

be a sweetheart . . . for Somalia

the famine in Somalia is at a critical stage and all aid has been called for. the Muslim Student Association (MSA) from the University of Cape Town (UCT) are raising funds for the Somalia Famine. these volunteers are providing a beautiful gesture for all to participate, as well as benefiting many other people.

support the famine and the need of others, by buying an extremelly good-looking cupcake or donut (delish!) from their stand on the UCT campus today! prices are all R5.00 or less. and all money raised / donated will be donated to campaigns aiding the famine in Somalia.

"In the last three months, over 150,000 people have flooded into the Dadaab refugee camp on the boarder of Kenya and Somalia. About 115,000 of these people are women and children who have walked for up to 100 km with no reliable source of food or water."
Hope for Somalia

we all have a role to play - what is yours?

take your delicious cupcakes and your coffee to jammie stairs and enjoy whilst knowing that you have contributed to something more then . . . . yourself.

want to give more? get in touch with Gift of the Givers or donate non-perishable food items in the green boxes in and around your city. (there is one outside the UCT library if you were wondering, as well as most pick n pay stores)

coffee coffee coffee & . . . coffee

on a beautiful Cape Town day, SA Coffee Club hosted a lovely event at the Bosch Showrooms in Milnerton, Cape Town. Clover, Bosch and OriginRoasters joined alongside SA Coffee Club for a morning of coffee tasting and coffee "education".   one is never too young to learn, right? Wayne Oberholzer from Origin Roasters hosted the event, as well as share his knowledge on the fundamentals of delicious (and dull) coffee. as a participant, there were two delicious coffees from around the world to taste, and experience the multiple flavours that adorn just a single cup of coffee. delish. Bosch showroom holds some magnificent devices that one can just dream about owning one day, as well as showing off their coffee machines and tasty cappuccinos.
