as i have been cruising around Cape Town, brown and black has been a predominant winter trend. 


in my mind i have always tabooed the mixing of brown and black. but i am beginning to see that it is actually not that bad, and more and more people are wearing this trend. 

**notice that it is tan brown, not dark brown.

LADIES NIGHT with Nu Metro

sho, what a treat last night was. some friends and myself were able to enjoy being spoilt at the Ladies Night Cinema evening at Nu Metro, V&A Waterfront. there were loads of treats and eats, as well as massages, nail therapists, men in bow ties, and wine tasting. it was only obvious that a dress code was in order. there may have been inspiration from a certain TV series . . . 

for those who have wondered whether or not they should go see Magic Mike . . . . well it is a must!

in Cape Town yesterday, the sun surprised us all. it came out warm, thick, and ever so delightful. this is the perfect weather to really be creative with your winter wardrobe. it is great to combine, tights, lace, scarf's, cardigans and ankle booties....without over heating.

Men's Key Textures A/W 2012

whilst I was trying to gather traffic to my Facebook page, a certain someone complained that there was a lack of "men's fashion". so I did a bit of research into what is key for South Africa's Autumn/Winter 2012.

I came across the site : FASHIONBEANS, what a lovely website. I do agree that some of the garments and looks are a bit too OTT for the average South African man. however, what is nice to do, is to see the image as a complete LOOK and then take certain aspects of what you like, and then make your own look.


key textures/looks:

• Chunky knit jumper
• Pattern – Fair Isle
• Mini Pattern Trend – Flecked/Mottled Fabric
• Corduroy : do not freak out, I thought Grandpa as well, but it is not like that, promise.
• Quilting

textures are great to add to any look, as they apply an additional aspect and colour to the outfit as a whole.  a key way of creating an interesting textual effect is by layering different fabrics and textures: for example, a tweed blazer over a denim shirt and a wool mix tie. but, make of it as you wish. take a look and see what you like and how you can incorporate this sort of "textured" and layered look into your winter must haves.

long hair . . . what to do

ever have those moments where you just want to CUT your long locks for a shorted and chic look? well don't do it . . . yet. personally, i love the idea of having a sophisticated and well-styled bob. but, i believe my time will come. a special someone close to me, likes me with long hair. so right now, i am good for now and will embrass the extra effort that comes with long hair. last month i posted about the latest do's on the cat walk, and decided that a fringe was a must. as discussed with a close friend, a fringe is much easier to handle and take care of in the winter - when it is not that hot. agree? check the post for other options.

i do not like multi-coloured hair, and if you want to have highlights, then that is great, keep it to one colour ie: blonde - please do not introduce and who knows what else. i am boring in this sense that i don't think it is nice when there are a million different colours and tones in ones' hair. anyway, moving on. . .

i think long hair is boring. but today, when i should have been doing other things, i went and gathered a few pictures (from all over) to put together a post of some new and interesting ways to wear your long hair. don't ask me for a tutorial as to how to do these hairstyles, but they definately look pretty and t.r.e.n.d.y.
