jumpsuits. hmm. how does one even spell it? two words or one? jumpsuits are worn if you
flee yourself from an aeroplane, not off a runway! south africa was jumped in spring/summer 2010 by the ancient jumpsuit trend. my mother laughed. my friend’s mother laughed. fashion is cyclic. period. the high-waist garments, the leg warmers, the baggy knit jersey – when i was younger you were considered “nerdy” if your pants were higher than your hips and you wore knit material. but oh no, fashion jumped right back into the decades and retrieved the infamous jumpsuit. they were here last season and they seem to be staying for another.
get this: good old wikipedia refer to a jumpsuit as utilitarian one-piece garments used by
parachutes/skydivers but has come to be used as a common term for any one-piece garment with sleeves and legs AND that jumpsuits have also reappeared from time to time in high fashion, where it is often attractive to designers because it has an unbroken line running from the neck to the feet and can be flattering on some body shapes. convenience? i think so.
